The Window Seat Debate
Eventually seated, Paddy found himself beside a young businessman tapping away at a laptop.
“What gave it away?” Paddy muttered, clutching the armrest like it owed him money.
As the plane began taxiing, Paddy whispered, “Why are we driving? I thought we were flying.”
“Ah,” Paddy nodded, pretending that made perfect sense.
The Seatbelt Confusion
When the seatbelt sign lit up, Paddy pressed the button above his head.
“Yes, sir?”
The attendant smiled professionally. “No prize, sir.”
The In-Flight Panic
Midair turbulence struck without warning.
The plane shook.
“Is this normal?” he asked, eyes wide.
“Yes,” the businessman replied calmly. “Just a bit of turbulence.”
He gripped the armrest tighter.
The Biggest Misunderstanding
But the true misunderstanding came near the end.
As the captain spoke over the intercom, Paddy leaned forward to listen carefully.
“We’ll be landing shortly. Local time is 4:45 p.m.”
Paddy turned to his seatmate in horror.
“Landing? Already? We’ve only just gotten up!”
“You’ve been in the air for nearly two hours.”
Paddy blinked.
Two hours? It had felt like 20 minutes of mild panic and soup-related grief.
When the wheels touched down, he gasped dramatically.
“We survived.”
The businessman chuckled. “Of course we did.”
As passengers stood to disembark, Paddy remained seated.
“Aren’t you getting up?” the man asked.
“I will,” Paddy said cautiously. “Just giving it a minute to make sure it doesn’t change its mind.”
